These days, more than ever, we could all use a strong immune system. Yu Ping Feng San (aka Jade Windscreen) is one of the most historically respected formulas in Traditional Chinese Medicine for supporting the body’s natural defenses, which is why it’s the inspiration of our Immunity Support formula, and a key ingredient in this delicious smoothie. Along with the powerful herbs, we’ve incorporated ingredients that both accentuate the flavor and strengthen the immunity benefits through the power of Chinese dietary therapy.
Some Traditional Chinese Medicine Background on the Ingredients
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) traditions, the pear is often valued for its refreshing and soothing qualities. In TCM, it is believed to support hydration and overall respiratory comfort.
Ginger, a naturally warming ingredient, is known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. These qualities help support general wellness and immune health.
Almonds have a mildly warming nature and a naturally sweet taste. In TCM, they are traditionally used alongside other botanicals, like apricot seeds, to support respiratory health.
Combined with juicy pears, almonds may help promote internal balance and moisture.
Finally, blueberries bring a burst of flavor and a rich source of antioxidants, making this smoothie both nourishing and enjoyable.
Ingredients
- 1 Immunity Support sachet
- 6-8 oz almond milk (how thick do you like it?)
- 8 almonds
- 1 pear (we recommend Bosc)
- ½ to ¾ inch piece of ginger, peeled and sliced (how spicy do you like it?)
- ¾ c frozen blueberries
Directions
Blend the ginger slices with a small amount of the almond milk (this ensures that there will be no large chunks of ginger, and may not be necessary if you have a top-of-the-line blender). Once the ginger is pureed to your liking, add the remaining ingredients and blend into your beverage is smooth and silky.
Enjoy!
