The Ingredients and their Immunity Boosting Properties
Readers of my recipes know that I pair and prepare western ingredients with their Chinese dietary therapy principles, as Chinese medicine provides some of the earliest “food as medicine” concepts. This cocktail is no different, particularly when it comes to being part of your wellness routine and offering a moment of relaxation.
Two ingredients worth highlighting, given the Chinese dietary therapy benefits:
- I’ve incorporated pear, which I’ve roasted (see this article on why you should always cook your vegetables for a primer). Pears are highly valued in China, particularly for their role in traditional practices to support overall wellness. Pears are considered 'sweet, slightly sour, and cool' in Chinese medicine and are traditionally valued for their nourishing properties.
- Ginger is traditionally used for its warming properties in Chinese medicine.
The Immunity Support packet contains a blend of herbs traditionally used for overall wellness, which adds a slight bitter note and the sweet balance from the honey powder. he recipe below incorporates half the packet, allowing you to enjoy this refreshing drink while adding an herbal touch to your routine.
