Thinking About Giving Acupuncture a Try? You're Not Alone.

A recent report titled “The MINDBODY Wellness Index: Understanding the State of the Wellness Industry in America,” was published after conducting a detailed study on the upcoming fitness, integrative health, and beauty trends in America.  As acupuncture and Chinese medicine enthusiasts, we could not be more pleased with the results.

The Importance of Integrative Health Services in America

Known as healing-oriented services, Integrative Health Services feature methods intended to improve a person’s health. It includes both traditional and complementary techniques that provide patients with holistic benefits while ensuring complete wellness.

The report reveals that Americans spent approximately $14.7 billion on integrative services in 2018. However, around 30% of Americans prefer integrative services, such as chiropractic care, massage, personal coaching, alternative healthcare, and acupuncture.

Acupuncture: The Top Integrative Health Service

While unveiling the upcoming trends, the report indicates that acupuncture is one of the top integrative health approaches that people want to try this year. Put simply: the report indicates that 29% of Americans want to try acupuncture in 2019.

The stats show that acupuncture is the most popular approach for people of all age groups except 18-25-year-old women, where acupuncture came in second place with 27% losing to massage service which came on the top with 28%.

However, acupuncture remains on the top of the list among men from 18-25 years old, showing that 25% of young males are looking forward to prioritize integrative health through acupuncture.

Among people who are 26 to 45 years old, 31% of women and 27% of men are interested in acupuncture as their next integrative health therapy. Similarly, 26% of women and 32% of men from 46 to 65 years want to try acupuncture in 2019.

Hydrotherapy, massage, nutrition counseling, and detox programs come in the list of top 10 integrative health methods for all age groups. However, detox programs ranked higher for younger age groups.

When it comes to the benefits that acupuncture provides, there is no doubt that this traditional medicine therapy helps alleviate several medical conditions. From relieving chronic back pain and long-term neck pain to improving osteoarthritis and migraine, acupuncture can provide holistic benefits while ensuring complete wellness.
