5 Acupressure Points for Glowing Skin

While radiant skin has never been out of style, skincare and skin remedies are trending today, especially. Just as important as the skincare products you apply to your skin are the physical routines that promote a youthful appearance. Learning about different therapies, such as facial acupressure, is key to getting the most out of your daily routine and enhancing your natural beauty.

What are Acupressure Points?

Acupressure points are in the same location as acupuncture points, just stimulated by applying pressure instead of inserting a needle. These points run along meridians or channels on the body, and land in the “spaces between”, such as between ligaments, tendons, fascia, and bone.

While acupressure can be beneficial for various conditions in the body, from chronic pain to anxiety, it also shines when applying this technique for skincare. Typically, you will know you are in the correct location when you feel a deep, dull ache in the spot with constant pressure.

The Best Acupressure Points For Skincare
1. Yin Tang or “Third Eye”

Located between the brows, this point is great for treating the “elevens” or lines between your brows from furrowing your face. This point is also amazing for calming the mind and spirit.

2. Stomach 2 or “Four-Whites”

Located below your eye in line with your pupil, this point can be found in the depression of the infraorbital foramen. Although it is important to apply gentle pressure to this area, as the skin here is very delicate, pressure on this point can address blemishes and breakouts.

3. Small Intestine 18 or “Cheek Bone Hole”

Located at the base of your cheek bone in line with the outer corner of your eye lies SI 18. This point is phenomenal for lifting the cheek area and relieving sinus pressure.

4. Yu Yao

Located at the midpoint of the eyebrow in line with the pupil, this point is great for giving a natural lift to the brows.

5. Stomach 4 or “Earth Granary”

Located lateral to the corner of the mouth and in line with the pupil, this point is great for treating the mouth area by relaxing the depressor anguli oris muscle.

Bringing it All Together

By stimulating these acupressure points daily using either your fingers or a Gua Sha stone in addition to receiving regular aesthetic acupuncture treatments, you are unlocking your skin’s full potential for an all-over radiant complexion, while also promoting overall well-being.
